Look whats out today Last Blood by Kristen Painter

Just heard about this series from a friend.  So of course I bought the first one in the series.  I think these covers for the series are amazing, very different and unique!

In the final showdown between the forces of dark and light, Mal and Chrysabelle face not only Tatiana, but the ancient evil that now controls her: the Castus Sanguis. Chrysabelle gathers her friends and family around her, forming a plan to bring an end to the chaos surrounding them. But the Castus is the most powerful being they've ever come up against. Defeating such evil will require a great sacrifice from someone on the side of light.

One of them will change sides. One of them will die. No one will survive unscathed. Can Chrysabelle save those she cares about or will that love get her killed? What price is she willing to pay to draw last blood?

That's right "Hellfire" by Jean Johnson is out today! I love Theirs not to reason why series

Now I'm just plan excited about this one!  I loved A Soldier's Duty, I have the 2nd book and I'm dying to read this one!  I hope that Jean Johnson continues the series 300 years in the future when the other precog is fulfilling the final part.

Overview

Her story began in the national bestsellers A Soldier’s Duty and An Officer’s Duty. Now Ia is captain and commander at the helm of Hellfire, where she is finally free to chart the course for the fulfillment of her destiny…

As captain, Ia must now assemble a crew that can rise to the ultimate challenge of saving the galaxy. The hardest part will be getting them to believe her, to trust in her prophecies. If they don’t, her own crew will end up being the biggest obstacle in her race against time.

The Salik are breaking through the Blockade, plunging the known galaxy into war. Ia cannot stop it this time, nor does she want to. This is the terrible price she has seen all along—that some must pay with their lives so that others might live. #1 New York Times bestseller Kresley Cole introduces The Dacians: Realm of Blood and Mist, a new paranormal series following the royal bloodline of Dacia, a vampire kingdom hidden within the Lore of the Immortals After Dark.
Shadow’s Claim features Prince Trehan, a ruthless master assassin who will do anything to possess Bettina, his beautiful sorceress mate, even compete for her hand in a blood-sport tournament— to the death.
HE WON’T BE DENIED
Trehan Daciano, known as the Prince of Shadows, has spent his life serving his people—striking in the night, quietly executing any threat to their realm. The coldly disciplined swordsman has never desired anything for himself—until he beholds Bettina, the sheltered ward of two of the Lore’s most fearsome villains.
SHE’S BOUND TO ANOTHER
Desperate to earn her guardians’ approval after a life-shattering mistake, young Bettina has no choice but to marry whichever suitor prevails—even though she’s lost her heart to another. Yet one lethal competitor, a mysterious cloaked swordsman, invades her dreams, tempting her with forbidden pleasure.
A BATTLE FOR HER BODY AND SOUL
Even if Trehan can survive the punishing contests to claim her as his wife, the true battle for Bettina’s heart is yet to come. And unleashing a millennium’s worth of savage need will either frighten his Bride away—or stoke Bettina’s own desires to a fever pitch. . . .

Rating 3/5

As usual Kresley Cole excels at her writing craft.  Hot guy's that are all Alpha and are in serious need of saving.  Trehan Daciano meets all of these qualities and is super hot hero.  However, Bettina is not exactly a likable character.  Her shallow, silliness and disregard for the fact that Cas is womanizing annoyance goes beyond the pale.  I never could relate as to why she would want the other guy to almost the bitter end.  A guy that didn't want her vs. the Trehan who lusted and general gave up so much for her.

The writing is great but the heroine is much to be desired.  Still a good read just not what I'm used to from Mrs. Cole.

Life for Kansas was perfect until the day the world changed.
She has been hiding out for four years in solitude. It's the only way to survive. The only way not to draw the living dead. Helping a small group of people, she learns the new world might not be what she assumes. Venturing out of her refuge and comfort zone, she meets Rudy, who helps her find a greater purpose. She realizes that the world has moved on without her. Only it's not what she expects. Her knowledge of the living dead grows and only makes her more curious as humanity continues to hang on by a thread. While on her search for answers she finds comfort in new friendships and love, but her past seems as if it will haunt her forever.
Kansas takes it upon herself to help other survivors, which would be easy if the famished were the only obstacles.
In a trilogy plot thick with twists and turns, it is emotional as much as it is horrifyingly gripping.

Review
Taking off the Dead started with a bang!  It was exciting and cool.  It lost it's momentum when Kan landed in trouble and ended up at a human compound.  Even the main Hero, Rudy is presented as a Kick Ass and very interesting.  This book could have gone in such a different direction and could have been amazing.  Not that it was bad but I really didn't care for the cults or the government crazies.  Actually, the government crazy guy's confused me.  Was the gov. involved with the crazy scientist or were they trying to rebuild?  Descent Zombie book and worth a look.

Review of The Vincent Boys by Abbi Glines

The Vincent Boys  (Vincent Boys #1)
Publisher: Self-Published (October 2011 )
Genre: YA
Format: e-book ( 260 pages)
Source: Purchased

Rating N/A

Ashton is getting tired of being good, of impressing her parents and playing ideal girlfriend to Sawyer Vincent. Sawyer is perfect, a regular Prince Charming, but when he leaves town for the summer, it’s his cousin Beau who catches Ashton’s eye. Beau is the sexiest guy she’s ever seen, and even though he’s dangerous, Ashton is drawn to him.

Beau loves his cousin like a brother, so the last thing he wants to do is make a move on Sawyer’s girl. Ashton is off-limits, absolutely. That’s why he does his best to keep his distance, even though he’s been in love with her forever. When Ashton wants to rekindle their childhood friendship in Sawyer’s absence, Beau knows he should say no.

Ashton and Beau don’t want to hurt Sawyer. But the more they try to stay away from each other, the more intense their urges become. It’s getting way too hard to resist....

Review

Normally I love Abbi's books of coming of age love.  This one I couldn't get into.  I made it about 30% before I just gave up.  I didn't really care for Ashton and her consistent wanting to be Sawyer's drone.

I was in love with this book cover and the premise of the story.  So I bought it on a whim.  Even though the writing was excellent, I could not get into the book.  I made it about 40% before I gave up.  It was just so slow.  Maybe one day I'll give it another try but in all honesty I can't give it a bad review because I could not finish it!

Review of "The Scandalous, Dissolute, No-Good Mr. Wright" by Tessa Dare

  • Publisher: HarperCollins Publishers

  • Sold by: Harpercollins

Originally appeared in the e-book anthology Three Weddings and a Murder.

Miss Eliza Cade is a lady in waiting. And waiting.
Because of a foolish mistake in her youth, she's not allowed "out" in Society until her three older sisters are wed. But while she's trying to be good, she keeps bumping elbows—and, more distressingly, lips—with notorious rake Harry Wright. Every moment she spends with him, she risks complete ruin.

The sensual passions he stirs in her are so wrong . . . but Eliza just can't resist Mr. Wright.

Rating 3/5

The overall story is pretty good but the ending was a bit of a let down.  I was left unsatisfied with the wrap up but for the most part the story was a cute HEA that leaves you warm and fuzzy.  Eliza has a lot of growing up to do and I think I would have liked to see her meet Wright a few years down the road after she grew up.  Wright was also the typical Rake with a soft side that only our heroine can see.  All around sweet little romance.
